Ingrebourne Hill Project

Ingrebourne Valley Ltd owns the freehold for the Ingrebourne Hill Project and, using construction waste as a base material, has transformed the landform.

Suitable material has been segregated from the imported material and has been screened to produce a planting medium in accordance with best practices. The company has worked in partnership with the Forestry Commission, which has undertaken the tree planting and is taking over the day to day management of the site on a 99 year contract. Visit www.forestry.gov.uk/ingrebourne for more information.

Although the Forestry Commission has a long record of involvement in the restoration of brownfield land, it has always been in association with other government agencies and this is believed to be the first time that they have partnered a private company. In addition they have received a very significant government grant to erect facilities at the site.

Several projects restore old mineral workings or landfill sites back to agriculture. They operate under exemptions from waste management regulations; however, the company control procedures are identical to those on a permit site.

We have extensive in-house knowledge and experience of current waste management legislation. We handle straightforward applications in-house and are well known to the Environment Agency as legitimate operators. We have had our own in-house compliance system operating since the late 90’s and therefore have extensive and probably unique files on north and east London arisings.
